EV CHARGING / BIRMINGHAM & NEARBY TOWNS
EV charging point installation
in Birmingham.
Make charging part of your everyday routine. We install home and workplace EV charge points, with the equipment and electrical work planned around your vehicle, parking and power supply.
Home charging
A dedicated charger for your driveway or garage, with the location and cable route considered from the start.
Workplace charging
Discuss staff, fleet or visitor charging, parking arrangements and how demand will be managed.
Direct installation
Deal directly with Birmingham Solar, backed by Argo’s electrical and property expertise.
Choose a charger that suits the way you drive.
The right starting point is how much energy you need to put back into the vehicle and when it is normally parked. We’ll also consider your vehicle’s charging capability, your existing electrical supply and any plans for a second EV.
Tethered or untethered
A tethered unit has a permanently attached cable. An untethered unit uses a separate compatible cable. Think about everyday convenience, cable reach and where it will be stored.
Smart scheduling
Compatible controls can schedule charging around your routine or tariff. Check how the app, vehicle and energy supplier controls work together.
Power and load management
Charger power needs to suit the supply and vehicle. Where appropriate, load management can help coordinate charging with other electrical demand.
YOUR PROPERTY FIRST
What we check before installation.
A clear scope helps avoid surprises on installation day.
- Where you park and where the charge point can be safely positioned.
- The route and distance between the electrical supply and charger.
- The existing consumer unit, supply capacity and protective arrangements.
- Connection requirements and any work or permissions needed.
- Connectivity, controls and integration with existing solar or storage.
EV charging, solar and home batteries.
If your vehicle is at home during daylight, a suitable charger may be able to use surplus solar generation. That depends on the charger, controls, available generation and the vehicle’s needs. Solar charging is not a guarantee of a full vehicle battery or free charging all year.
For evening or overnight charging, compare the tariff and the whole property’s electricity use. A home battery has its own capacity and power limits, so using it to charge an EV is not automatically the best use of stored energy.
From enquiry to a usable charge point.
01 / Tell us about the setup
Send your postcode, vehicle details and whether you need home or workplace charging. Let us know about existing solar or a battery.
02 / Agree the specification
We assess the installation and explain the charger, cable route, electrical work and any conditions or exclusions in the proposal.
03 / Installation and handover
Agree access and timing, then receive guidance on using the charger, its controls and the documentation for the work.
EV charger installation questions
Which areas do you cover?
We work in Birmingham and nearby towns, including Solihull and Sutton Coldfield. Include your postcode so we can confirm coverage and discuss access to your property.
Can you fit a charger before my car arrives?
Yes, we can discuss the installation ahead of delivery. Tell us the vehicle model, parking position and expected charging routine so compatibility and cable reach can be considered.
How long does charging take?
Charging time depends on the energy needed, the charger output and the vehicle’s charging limit. A higher-rated charger cannot make the car accept more power than it supports. We’ll explain the suitable options for your supply.
Can I have a charger without a driveway?
Parking rights, cable routing and permissions need careful assessment. Do not assume a cable can be run across a public pavement. Tell us about the parking arrangement before choosing equipment.
Do you publish fixed installation prices?
We provide tailored quotes. Cable length, the electrical supply, access, protective equipment and the charger specification all influence the work needed.
Can you assess an existing charger fault?
Describe the charger make, the symptom and any displayed error. We can discuss an assessment and confirm whether the equipment is within the scope of the work we can undertake.
Make home or workplace charging easier.
